I’ve been hearing a lot about Tines lately and I’m genuinely curious about trying it out - but I’ll be honest, I’m not a developer. I can write a basic script here and there, but I wouldn’t call myself a coder by any stretch. Is Tines something I could realistically learn and use without a strong programming background?
Tines is specifically designed to be accessible without a coding background. The platform uses a visual, drag-and-drop builder where you connect actions together to build workflows called Stories. Most tasks like sending emails, querying APIs, or enriching alerts can be done entirely through the UI without writing a single line of code.
That said, knowing a little about how APIs work and understanding JSON will go a long way. Tines does have its own formula language for transforming data, but it’s approachable and well-documented.
The best place to start is Tines University, which has structured learning paths built for all skill levels. The Docs are thorough and beginner-friendly, and the Tines Blog has plenty of real-world examples to spark ideas. You’ll be surprised how quickly things click!
The Workbench for Storyboard is the big one for me.
It’s an AI-chat interface for the storyboard - so a fairly familiar interface mode at this stage given we all use something like Claude or ChatGPT. That was the game-changer for me. From helping understand and edit existing workflows to building something entirely new from scratch. It’s unlocked a tonne for me as someone who’s not a developer.
